Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Kids Duo site. My name is James. I've been with Tact Kodomomirai for a little over 10 years in a variety of roles from Instructor, to Area Leader, to Trainer and now with recruitment. We hope to shed some light on some of the questions applicants often have. If you're unable to find the answer you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us by email (team_hr@tact-net.jp) and we'll do our best to respond with an answer as soon as we are able.

How long is the contract?
The first contract is for one year. Successful instructors will have the opportunity to renew their contracts. There is no limit to the number of times you can renew your contract with Kids Duo.
How much do I get paid?
The basic salary is ¥250,000 per month and there is an additional contract completion bonus. Any hours worked outside a regular eight-hour shift, such as for school events, will qualify for overtime.
Who do I teach?
Many Kids Duo teachers teach children aged 3-12.
Do I need a university degree?
You must have a valid university degree to apply unless your visa is self-supported.
What are my working hours?
A Kids Duo shift is nine hours per day including a one-hour lunch break. The start time will depend on the school. Each week, most instructors work five-day blocks with a two-day weekend.
Do I get vacations?
Kids Duo instructors enjoy three vacation periods per year as well as 10 paid vacation days.
What level of English do I need?
You must be a native speaker of English to apply. While many non-native level speakers have strong English abilities, native level speakers are required to teach Kids Duo's immersion style classes.
Are there opportunities for promotion?
As Kids Duo grows, we are looking for exceptional instructors to fill leadership positions. These roles often involve responsibilities outside of the classroom such as training new instructors, developing curriculum, opening new schools, and hiring new instructors.
Is training provided?
We provide initial training at head office and on-job-training at a Kids Duo school. We also organize workshops throughout the school year to help instructors develop their skills.
Does Kids Duo use a curriculum?
The foundation of any Kids Duo class is our strong curriculum. Kids Duo instructors developed this curriculum over many years based on their experiences in the classroom and the needs of their students.
Is there any support for newcomers to Japan?
Yes. Japanese language courses are provided for free. Also, we have support hotline for instructors seeking advice or support on variety of issues, both work and private.
